September 19 – Girl Scouts Love State Parks |
|
| Our in-person Girl Scouts Love State Parks at Fort Pierce Inlet State Park will include:
Activities: Manatee Presentation with Elyse, Junior Ranger Program & SwearingIn, Guided hike with a Ranger, Sea Turtle Presentation, Beach Clean-up.
What to bring, Refillable water bottle, work gloves, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, sturdy closedtoe shoes/boots. A packed lunch if you want to enjoy the park longer after the program ends.
Park admission will be waived for participants
Girl Scouts Love State Parks patch included in program fee for all participants and will be mailed out after the program date. |

|
| Are you a new leader looking for some extra training opportunities? Want to connect with leaders outside our service unit? Want to have some face time with our council staff?
Join us for a dynamic GS volunteer training event filled with impactful sessions and workshops on Sept 19th! Event Highlights: -Leadership Sessions: Learn to inspire and lead with confidence. -Girl Education: Understand grade level offerings, educating girls and patch/badge earning. -Product program samples and educational sessions -Breakout sessions, Keynote speaker, and various other workshops: Participate in various interactive workshops designed to equip you with the skills needed to make a lasting impact for girls. -And much more!! |

September 26 – Girl Scouts Go Nuclear! |
|
|
Take a peek past the cooling towers at FPL’s nuclear power plant in Port St. Lucie! During this exclusive event, girls will hear about all the different ways a career in nuclear energy can power their future! From security and safety operations to management and engineering, girls will see what day-to-day life is like in each of these roles as they tour through St. Lucie County’s only nuclear power facility. Girls will get to see for themselves just how much dedication, focus, and care it takes to power our communities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year as they step in to a simulated reactor control room to try their hand at keeping the plant running safely. As one of the fastest growing forms of energy in the world, nuclear power could look totally different in the next few years alone! Luckly, girls can get a sneak peek at what could be waiting for them through demonstrations of the latest and greatest in nuclear technology. Then, put on your nuclear power pants and participate in a full dress-out! Hard hats, coveralls, gloves, and booties, try on all of the protective equipment that keeps plant workers safe as they keep our lights on. And if all that wasn’t sweet enough, girls will get to take a closer look at how nuclear power is produced through a candy model of the reactors! |

| October 10 – Archery Training |
|
| Adults can get trained to facilitate archery for their troop (and for the service unit!) and upon completing training will be a USA Archery certified archery instructor.
The class is a combination of an online course and an in-person practical session on October 10.

October 10 – Lifeguard Certification |
|
| Get certified as a lifeguard, so that your troop can participate in water activites without needing to hire a lifeguard. Adult volunteers with lifeguard certification can also support the service unit with activites.
This training has a serious physical prerequisite – check the registration link for details. |

| October 14 – Earth Defenders Speak Up |
|
| October is “Earth Defenders” month at GSSEF – your troop can choose a conservation-themed service project or service activity to conduct over the month of October.
Or your troop can participate in GSSEF’s virtual patch program on October 14 – delivered via MS Teams at 6pm.

October 17 – Cardboard Boat Regatta |
|
| Girls form teams of up to four to design, build, and sail cardboard boats in the pool at Camp Welaka!

| This program is for Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors that are interested in facilitating council events, serving as camp counselors, or taking on other program leadership roles at the council level.

| November 4 – Pumpkin Chunkin’ |
|
| Save the date for Gemini SU’s fourth annual Pumpkin Chunkin’ service project. We collect uncut and unpainted pumpkins left over from Halloween and cut them into chunks to deliver to Creature Safe Place in Fort Pierce to be used as animal food.

Nov 11 – Veterans Celebration at Texas Roadhouse |
|
|
Girl Scouts are invited to assist Texas Roadhouse in celebrating our local Veterans by passing out cards, letters, pictures, etc. which thank our Veterans for their service.
They can also wave American flags and assist with passing out the Texas Roadhouse peanuts.
You can stay for the whole time, or any part of it! Girls can also come with or without their leaders but this is not a drop-off event unless leaders wish to stay with their troops.
If your troop can’t make it to the event and you wish to make cards, letters, or pictures and drop them off there or to me beforehand, just let Barbara know.
Please have girls wear vests/sashes to this event.

Join Troops 42040 and 42050 at their annual Friendsgiving celebration! The girls will make new friends, share food that they made, and can complete steps towards their food badges (Snacks, Simple Meals, New Cuisines, Locavore, Dinner Party).
All levels welcome.

| Krista Perez is organizing the Girl Scouts’ participation in the Okeechobee Holiday Parade. Like the others, the parade is still in the municipal planning process so we will have more details as plans are developed.

All Gemini Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors are invited to join us at Camp Nocatee for a relaxing and chill older girl campout! Meteor watching, good food, relaxation, and fun! Girls are welcome to come with or without their troop.
Times are approximate, and cost and details will be forthcoming.

December 19 – Wreaths Across America |
|
|
All Gemini Girl Scouts are invited to attend this wonderful annual community service event. The girls will be placing wreaths on the graves of deceased US. military servicemen and servicewomen.
This is a formal event that requires the girls to be in full Girl Scout uniform:
vest/sash, plain white top (polo, blouse, t-shirt, etc.) – dollar store white t-shirt is just fine
khaki/beige/tan bottom (shorts, skorts, skirt, or pants) – school uniform bottoms in khaki, beige or tan are just fine; or bottoms from a thrift store work
closed-toe shoes
Family and friends are also welcome to attend – but this is a solemn ceremony so please monitor small children closely and do not allow them to run around freely in the cemetery.
Please ensure your troop receives this information as girls may attend with or without their troop.

We expect our product delivery day to be October 30. We need any and all available volunteers to help Danielle sort the delivery. It’s a heavy lift and many hands make it a bit lighter.

Every year, Gemini service unit partners with the Salvation Army to fill stockings for families who need them for the holidays.
Troops may sign up for a number of stretchy stockings (suggested quantity of 1-2 stockings per participating troop member,) collect them, and fill them with small non-food toys, treats, and useful hygine items for kids in the age range they choose. Salvation Army stockings cover kids of all ages and genders.
Please sign up below with your troop leader’s name, troop number, and the number of stockings you would like to fill. If you register in time, you can collect stockings at Fall Product pickup. If you register after Fall Product pickup, you can make arrangements to pick up the stockings later.
We STRONGLY recommend that troop leaders do not send the stockings home with troop members or parents, but that they keep them and fill them at a meeting. It is very important that we get ALL the stockings back, even if they did not get filled. We will collect filled stockings as well as any additional “stocking stuffers” that you might want to contribute at the service unit holiday party in December. |
