December Leader Meeting Notes

Thank you to everyone who was able to come out and celebrate with us at our Holiday Under The Sea holiday party!  And very special thanks to Jamie Turner for putting together a wonderful fun filled and creative evening!

We have some important information to cover in this issue, so read on!

Wreaths Across America

THIS SATURDAY!

Barbara McGrogan is again organizing Port St Lucie’s contribution to the national Wreaths Across America campaign to lay wreaths at the gravesites of service members from our community.

All Girl Scouts are invited to participate in the wreath laying ceremony, which will take place on December 14, 2024 at Rolling Oaks Cemetery.

This is a formal event, and all participants are requested to come dressed in full formal uniform: khaki pants or skirt, white shirt, uniform vest or sash, and closed-toe shoes.

11:15am arrival time / ceremony begins at noon and will last about 40 minutes. Family is permitted to attend…for littles please keep in mind it’s a solemn ceremony, and no running around or being disrespectful to gravesites

Please contact Barbara McGrogan for questions or to confirm your troop’s participation – (609) 320-8718

Cookie Booth Lottery – Action Required!

We are preparing the Service Unit cookie booth lottery draft site for January. Please complete the Google doc form below with the contact information of the person that is doing the booth picks, if your troop is participating in the Service Unit cookie booth lottery.

For new leaders: there are two different ways to obtain cookie booths for your troop: 1. pick booths from Council’s lottery on ebudde (beginning January 1); or 2. pick booths from the Service Unit’s lottery on the online draft site (beginning mid-January). You are permitted to do both!

Securing Cookie Booths For This Season

Also, if anyone is interested in helping secure cookie booths for the SU, please enter your information into this spreadsheet:

Please be respectful when asking for booth time in front of businesses, ask for any special instructions as to where they want us, ask for as much time as possible (all day, everyday-we have homeschool troops that can be out during the day), advise that we have our own insurance, and present them with your (or my or Gioella Bonelli’s) contact information should they have any issues with any troop/girls that are there at any time.

Permission forms are linked at the top of the Booth Location Spreadsheet.

Fill in your name next to the booth you want to secure so we’re not duplicating going in there.

ANY booth that’s set up anywhere needs to have a booth permission form sent to Gioella.

Gioella Bonelli will be handling the cookie booth lottery draft this year.

Please forward all booth permission forms to her once secured (by text-just send picture of the form or by email-send scan or picture).

Her contact information is: (954) 558-0384 or [email protected].

Barbara McGrogan’s contact info is: 609-320-8718 for anything relating to cookie sales or the cupboard.

Ingathering Registration is Open!

Registration for Gemini’s 2025 Ingathering Camporee is now open!

This year’s Ingathering is called “Escape At Ahbalufa” and as you might have guessed it will take place at Camp Ahbalufa in Fort Piece on March 14 – 16, 2025.

The theme of this year’s Ingathering is mysteries, puzzle solving, and detective work, and we will be earning badges related to that theme for each level over the weekend.

Each campsite will be asked to contribute to the fun by designing an “escape room” style puzzle scenario or other mystery to solve within their campsite, to be experienced by the other troops / campsites who will all rotate through the various sites.

This is an excellent opportunity for new troops and younger troops to get a taste of the camping experience a little closer to home, while more experienced and older troops get to show of their creativity and enjoy the company of each other.

For everyone, it’s a fantastic time to make new friends and meet the old, as this is the one time every year that all our troops can come together!

Registration will be $35 per person, with a $10 per person deposit and rough roster due on January 15.

More information and registration forms are available on the Ingathering page of the website.

Troop Activity Spotlight

This month’s troop activity spotlight features some sharp looking Girl Scouts, a really cool looking float, and a really suspicious looking green character that all came together to bring excitement, cheer, and a little mischief to the Port St Lucie Festival of Lights!  Big shout out to Melanie Caramma for organizing the whole shebang!
