Thanks to everyone for coming out for our first in-person meeting of the new year! Welcome to the new troop leaders who came out to say hi for the first time!
Meet Your Service Unit Team
We have some new faces in the Service Unit, as well as some old faces in new roles.
You can find us and all our contact info here!
We’re looking for folks to help out with the service unit in a variety of ways. We’re looking for school liaisons, folks with big brain girl program ideas, and others. Interested? Check out the volunteer application form here!
New Resources
Jamie Turner shared some of her library of songs, ceremonies, and activities with us. Did you miss out? No worries, you will soon be able to find it (as soon as I get it uploaded) in our resource library!
Congratulations to the Ingathering Committee
Congratulations to Karyl Bertram and Jamie Turner, along with our girls on the Ingathering Committee for earning the GSSEF President’s Award!
Membership / Recruitment Update
We are always looking for girls (and adults) to help volunteer at recruitment events. Girls can earn a patch and will get community service hours for volunteering. Keep an eye on the Facebook group for upcoming recruitment opportunities and reach out to Barbara if you or your girls are interested. Lots of upcoming opportunities in late September and October!
Kristin Skarie, our GSSEF Community Manager updated us on new troops forming in Gemini, Sea Star, and in our Okeechobee community. She also shared some GSSEF hosted recruitment events that will be happening alongside some fun activities in our communities. Stay tuned to the Facebook group for more info!
Please make sure you keep Kristin updated with your availability / open spaces in your troop. She is carrying that info to recruitment events and it is really helping speed up the process of matching girls with troops. And if you see her in person, make sure to ask her about the frog story!
2021 Cookie Sale Rewards
The padfolios are in for the girls who earned them as part of last year’s cookie sale season. If your girls are missing padfolios, please contact Lori.
COVID-19 Update
GSSEF has updated COVID-19 guidelines, make sure you are up to date with the current safety standards here.
What’s Your Why?
We all have different reasons for volunteering with Girl Scouts, and it means different things to every person. At the meeting, we all shared our “whys” and the scope and variety of reasons was inspiring and amazing. Want to share your own “why?” Send it to us, and we might share it on our social media.
Speaking of Social Media
Hailey Tumminelli, our new social media manager is rocking our social media accounts! Give us a like on our public Facebook page, and follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok!

Last Looks
Our next meeting will be on October 4, on Zoom. We will meet in person approximately four times per year, and will conduct the rest of our meetings virtually.
Our next in-person meeting will be our holiday party / new leader investiture / rededication ceremony on Dec 6 at Holy Faith Episcopal Church at 6:30pm.
Service unit meetings are normally the first Monday of each month. If that Monday falls on a holiday, school break, or other inconvenience then we will shift to the second Monday.
